If your security team runs on Jira, sprints and backlog included, UpGuard plugs straight into it: vendor findings, breach alerts, and user risk signals can all surface as issues your team is already triaging.

With this integration, you can:

* Get onboarding under way the moment a new vendor enters your pipeline
* Turn a new risk finding or a vendor score drop into a Jira issue automatically
* Review an AI-generated summary and suggested next steps
* Keep third-party risk data current in Jira without anyone re-entering it
* Route breach and user risk findings into the same issues

Set the trigger once: a new risk detected for a monitored vendor, a risk score dropping below a threshold you’ve set, a credential breach turning up on a watched domain, or a questionnaire response coming in.

## Ready-made templates built for Jira

UpGuard Risk Automations includes pre-built automations that route across your entire risk ecosystem, including Jira. Here’s how two of them work.

### Vendor risk triage

The moment a new risk surfaces for a monitored vendor, this template triages the finding and opens a Jira issue with remediation instructions already attached. Whoever picks up the issue starts with remediation instructions already in hand.

### Vendor score drop triage

When a vendor's score drops below the threshold you've set, this template opens a Jira issue with an AI-generated summary of what changed and suggested next steps, instead of a bare notification that sends your team back into UpGuard to investigate.

***Both are ready to configure in Risk Automations now.***

## Jira + Risk Automations use cases

Risk Automations runs on the same configurable, flexible automation engine, and teams build well past these two templates. Here’s what the rest of the lifecycle looks like in Jira.

### Onboarding, minus the chasing

A new onboarding request triggers this template the moment someone submits it. Risk Automations assigns a risk tier, starts monitoring, opens a Jira issue, and notifies the internal owner and vendor contact, all before the security questionnaire goes out. Everyone involved can see exactly where onboarding stands. It's already moving.

In reverse, a newly filed Jira issue can be the trigger instead. The automation reads the vendor details directly from the issue’s custom fields (hostname, tier, contact email) to add the vendor to UpGuard, set its tier, and automatically send the questionnaire. Security initiates the entire process within Jira.

Want the complete workflow breakdown? It's covered in our roundup of[ Risk Automations templates for Vendor and User Risk](https://www.upguard.com/blog/risk-automations-templates-vendor-and-user-risk).

### Risk findings that route themselves

Not every event that matters shows up as a risk score. A questionnaire response comes back with a concerning answer. A remediation deadline passes without an update. Events like these can open a Jira issue in the right project and route to the right team, rather than surfacing only in UpGuard until someone happens to check. Your infosec team sees it appear directly in their own queue.

### Credential breach response, without the noise

When UpGuard flags a monitored domain or user in a credential breach, an automation can filter for breaches that exposed passwords, then check whether the affected account is still active in the identity provider, and then open a Jira issue. Inactive accounts get skipped automatically, so the backlog only fills with breaches someone needs to act on.

### Records that stay current between sprints

A vendor's score can drop between sprints, a new finding can surface without warning, and remediation can wrap up before anyone remembers to check the board. Each of those changes updates the vendor record in Jira too, so whoever's triaging isn't working from a snapshot that's already gone stale by the time they open the issue.

## Test it on your next issue

Attackers don’t pause for a workflow to catch up. Monitoring runs continuously, and Risk Automations keeps the bridge to your issue tracker running at the same pace. Risk Automations extends your full security posture monitoring across Vendor Risk, Breach Risk, or User Risk alike, straight into the issue your team already tracks.
