[SASE (Security Access Service Edge)](https://www.upguard.com/blog/sase), pronounced “sassy”, is an emerging cybersecurity concept that converges networking and security functionalities into a cloud-native architecture. The term was introduced by Gartner in 2019, in response to the growing complexity of modern networks, characterized by SaaS technology and remote working models.
