In 2011, Cornell University announced it granted ChromaDex exclusive worldwide rights to a novel manufacturing process for nicotinamide riboside which it markets and sells as an ingredient under the brand name Niagen.ChromaDex also offers contract research services that help customers source raw materials, identify new compounds and develop processes for large scale manufacturing.As of 2012 American billionaire and pharmaceutical entrepreneur Phillip Frost owned approximately 19% of ChromaDex.ChromaDex sells ingredients to third parties that market them under their own labels.
